Match Report

In the first leg, Manchester City defeated Real Madrid by a 4-3 margin. So, Real Madrid needed to win the match at least by a two-goal margin to go to the final. In this crucial match, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti set up the team formation with 4-2-3-1. He used Luka Modric as the attacking midfielder. On the other hand, Man City boss Pep Guardiola played his team in a 4-3-3 formation. In the front, Pep Guardiola deployed Riyad Mahrez and Phil Foden along with Gabriel Jesus.

Real Madrid, the home team, got immense support from the crowd. The stadium was full of their fans. As a result, Real Madrid got extra energy from the stadium. They tried to press the opponents from the beginning of the match. But Man City also became steady after a few minutes. However, both teams created some serious chances but failed to score. As a result, the first half ended in 0-0.

Returning from the break, the visitors were more attacking than in the first half. But they had to wait until 73 minutes to find the net. Riyad Mahrez scored that goal for the Citizens. Therefore, Real Madrid needed three more goals to reach the final since the aggregate was 3-5. It seemed they were likely to eliminate from the semifinal. But the drama was yet to come.

Real Madrid got a little hope as Rodrygo scored a goal in the 90th minute. Two minutes later, Rodrygo hit again. He leveled the aggregate with this goal in the injury time. Consequently, the match went to extra time, which was the decisive factor. In the 93rd minute, Ruben Dias fouled Karim Benzema inside the box. As a result, the match referee offered a penalty kick to Real Madrid. And guess what? Benzema took that shot and made no mistake! As a result, Real Madrid won the match by 3-1 and secured the final by an aggregate of 6-5.
