Amazon Warriors have qualified for the playoff round

Amazon Warriors have qualified for the playoff round in the Caribbean Premier League with three consecutive victories. Last night, they defeated Trinbago Knight Riders by 37 runs at the Providence Stadium. All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan received the Player of the Match award for his brilliant performance both in bat and ball. However, Trinbago Knight Riders ended their journey in the CPL last night as they failed to qualify for the next round.

As it happened

Kieran Pollard, the captain of the Trinbago Knight Riders, won the toss and decided to bowl first. So, Guyana Amazon Warriors started their batting innings with the two openers, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Chandrapaul Hemraj. But their starting was not good enough. The Warriors lost their first wicket in the 2nd over as Ravi Rampaul picked up Chandrapaul Hemraj.

After that, Rahmanullah Gurbaz made a fantastic partnership with Shai Hope. Together they added 50 runs on the scoreboard. But, their partnership broke in the 8th over with the departure of Shai Hope. Then, Shakib Al Hasan came into the pitch and made an amazing partnership with Gurbaz. They added 50 runs together on the scoreboard.

However, Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored the highest 60 runs for Guyana Amazon Warriors. He hit six sixes before the departure. On the other side, Shakib Al Hasan contributed 35 runs from 25 balls. Relying on their runs, Guyana Amazon Warriors scored 173 runs in 20 overs.

Chasin the target, Trinbago Knight Riders had a decent start. Tim Seifert and Colin Munro tried to build a long partnership for the team. They scored 32 runs together on the opening wicket. However, Shakib Al Hasan broke their partnership he bowled out Tim Seifert in the 5th over. After that, Colin Munro tried to tackle the situation with the new batter, Samit Patel. They added another 36 runs on the board,

Unfortunately, the disaster started for the Knight Riders when Colin Munro lost his wicket. Shakib Al Hasan and Imran Tahir were continuously picking wickets. Due to their aggression, Trinbago Knight Riders lost all the wickets in 136 runs. Shakib Al Hasan got three wickets, while Imran Tahir got two. As a result, Guyana Amazon Warriors won the match by 37 runs and sealed a place in the playoff.
