The Manchester United forward Anthony Martial is ready to join the Spanish side, Sevilla FC. Despite the interest of FC Barcelona and Juventus, the French international only wants to play for Sevilla. However, Manchester United have done their first job in this transfer window with the deal of Anthony Martial. Five days are remaining of this window. So, every club will have to complete their business within these days.
Deal Details
Anthony Martial will join Sevilla from Manchester United on a loan move. Both clubs have reached an agreement for Martial. Sevilla FC will pay around €6m, including agent fees and salary, for this forward until the end of the season. So, the English side will not get fees for the player. Moreover, there is no buy-option included in the deal.
Currently, Martial is in France. He will fly to Seville on Tuesday in order to complete the medical test. However, the French man has played his last game for Manchester United on Saturday against West Ham United. In 2015, Anthony Martial joined the Red Devils from Monaco FC. Since then, he has played 269 matches for Man United and scored 79 goals.
Why does Martial leave Man United?
Anthony Martial has played for almost seven years for Manchester United. So, why does he leave the club? Well, this is because he is not getting enough game time for the Red Devils. After the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho, it became difficult for Martial to get a chance in the starting XI. On the other side, Mason Greenwood has been performing well for the club. As a result, the future of Martial at this club became uncertain. Moreover, he has started only four matches for Manchester United this season. That is why he decided to leave the club as soon as possible.
Football expert Tom Williams has explained why Martial joins Sevilla. He said,
There are various reasons for him not having hit the heights that United would have hoped. There’s been a lot of instability since he came to the club. He’s played under four different managers, not all of whom have been his biggest fans – you think notoriously of Jose Mourinho. He obviously needs to move. Ronaldo arriving was probably the death knell for his United career as the first-choice center-forward. You suspect that, for both parties, the best thing is for him to move on.
