Match Report

Argentine boss Lionel Scaloni got a chance to play a friendly three days before the World Cup. He wanted to find the best team combination for the World Cup in this match. However, some players are not 100% fit, which is why the manager made some changes last night.

Lionel Scaloni set up the team formation with 4-3-3. He deployed Lisandro Martinez to pair up with Otamendi. Due to Lo Celso’s injury, the manager also played Mac Allister in the midfield. Lionel Messi led the attack with Julian Alverez and Angel Di Maria.

As one of the favorites in the world cup, Argentina didn’t have to wait much to score the first goal against the UAE. Striker Julian Alverez scored a goal in the 17th minute with the help of Lionel Messi. After that, Angel Di Maria started showing his class. He scored two goals within 10 minutes.

Moreover, Lionel Messi also found the net. He scored a fantastic goal in the 44th minute with Di Maria’s assist. Therefore, the Albiceleste went into the break with a four-goal lead.

Returning from the break, Argentina’s manager made some substitutions. The players were careful on the field as they didn’t take any risk of injury. Therefore, they played a bit of slow football in the second half. However, the Albicelste got their fifth goal as Joaquin Correa scored that goal in the 60th minute with the help of Rodrigo De Paul. As a result, Argentina won the match with a five-goal margin at the Mohammad Bin Zayed Stadium.

The manager can change the 26-men squad

Argentina have already announced their 26-men squad for the Qatar World Cup. But because of the injury crisis, the manager hinted to change some players. Nicholas Gonzalez has not recovered yet. So there is a possibility to replace him with Alejandro Garnacho.

Manager Lionel Scaloni said, “We have some little problems, and we have days to decide the topic of the list. We can change, let’s hope not, but there is the possibility. I’m also not saying they’re going off the list. There are several who today have been left out of the squad because they were not fit to play or there was a risk.”
