Arsenal dropped massive points last night against Newcastle United. They lost the match by 2-0 at St. James Park against the home team. As a result, Arsenal have moved one step down in the point table. They are out of the top four now, standing in the 5th with 66 points.

Meanwhile, their main competitor, Tottenham Hostpur, have gone two points ahead of the Gunners. With 68 points, Tottenham Hotspur are standing in the 4th. However, Arsenal have one match left in the EPL. But, it will be very difficult for the Gunners to go to the top four. To secure the top four spots, they must win their final game as well as Tottenham must lose.

Last night, Arsenal traveled to St. James’ Park to play against the home team, Newcastle United. It was a must-win game for the Gunners to go to the top four. So, Arsenal manager Mike Arteta played a strong team against Newcastle United. He set up the team formation with 4-2-3-1. On the other side, Newcastle’s boss played his team in a 4-3-3 formation.

Newcastle lost two consecutive matches before last night’s clash against Arsenal. So they were very desperate to back into the winning ways. As a result, the home team started playing aggressive football from the beginning of the match. They created some great opportunities in the first half. Moreover, Newcastle United had more possession in the first half than Arsenal. Unfortunately, both teams couldn’t find the net in the first 45 minutes.

Returning from the break, the home team played relatively well. That is why Newcastle United didn’t have to wait long to take the lead. In the 55th minute, Newcastle United took the lead as Arsenal’s defender Ben White scored an own-goal. He failed to clear the ball and put the ball into his own net.
