Arsenal thrashed Southampton at home

After the two consecutive defeats in the English Premier League, Arsenal have come back strongly at Emirates Stadium. Last night they beat Southampton FC by scoring three goals. With this win, Arsenal keep their place at 6th on the point table. They are just one point behind Manchester United.

On the other side, Southampton have dropped down to the16th in the table. They are only six points ahead of the relegation zone. Moreover, Southampton could not win in their last five league games. They lost three and drew the rest two.

Arsenal welcomed Southampton FC at Emirates Stadium last night. In this home game, the Gunner boss Mikel Arteta made a difficult decision. He dropped the team captain, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.

The home team manager set up the formation with 4-4-1-1. Instead of Aubameyang, Arteta played Alexandre Lacazette as the captain. Moreover, he also replaced Smith Rowe with the new signing, Martin Odegaard. On the opposite side, The Saints manager Ralph Hasenhuttl played his team in a 4-4-2 formation.

This time Martin Odegaard wrote his name on the scoresheet. Left-back Kieran Tierney assisted the goal for Odegard in the 27th minute. So the Arteta boys took a two-goal lead in the first half.

Returning from the break, the visitors tried to find the first goal for the team. But they could not break the defense line of the Gunners. Moreover, goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale blocked some brilliant shots of Southampton.
