Atletico Madrid comeback dramatically in the injury time

La Liga is becoming quite exciting in recent times. Real Madrid still remain at the top of the table. On the other side, Atletico Madrid have entered the top four after winning a dramatic match against Valencia. Last night, they beat Valencia FC at Estadio Wanda Metropolitano. With this win, the Simeone boys climbed up to the 4th of the table.

However, Atletico Madrid have come back strongly after losing two matches in a row. They have won two of their last three games in the league. On the other hand, Valencia FC have won just one of their previous five games. They are currently standing at the 9th on the table.

Match Report

Atletico Madrid welcomed Valencia FC at their home ground, Estadio Wanda Metropolitano. In this match, Diego Simeone set up the team formation with  4-4-2. In the front, he started with Luis Suarez and Joao Felix. But Jose Bordalas played his team in a 5-3-2 formation. He preferred to play defensive football rather than attacking.

As the home team, Atletico Madrid tried to control the match from the beginning. They had more possession on the ball than the visitors. But the home team conceded first as the winger, Yunus Musah, scored a brilliant goal in the 25th minute for the visitors. Moreover, Valencia doubled their lead just before half-time.  Their striker Hugo Duro scored that goal in the 44th minute. As a result, the first half ended in 2-0.

Returning from the break, the home team became desperate to find the net.  They finally scored a goal in the 64th minute. Matheus Cunha scored that goal for the home team. It looked like the visitors were going to win the match. But the drama was yet to come.

Argentine forward Angel Correa equalized in the injury time. He scored for the home team in the 91 minutes. Within two minutes, they hit again. Mario Hermoso netted the ball in the 93rd minute. As a result, Atletico Madrid won the match dramatically at their home ground. However, the Simeone boys will play against FC Barcelona at Camp Nou on 6 February.
