England, the T20 World Champion, are back in action. They are playing a three-match ODI series against Australia, the host. However, the three-match ODI series started today at Adelaide Oval, where the host beat the T20 world cup winners by six wickets.

Pat Cummins, the ODI captain of Australia, won the toss and decided to bowl first against the Three Lions. So, England started their batting innings with Jason Roy and Phil Salt.

The opening partnership was not good enough for the English. Jason Roy and Phil Salt added only 18 runs together. Aussie skipper Pat Cummins first hit the wicket as he picked up Phil Salt in the 4th over. Jason Roy also failed to survive long. Pacer Mitchell Starc bowled him out in the 5th over. Moreover, England lost another wicket in a short time. This time, James Vince departed the crease, scoring only five.

However, Dawid Malan tackled the disaster for England. He played a vital role in the middle order. With Sam Billings, Dawid Malan made a partnership of 35 runs. But Josh Buttler helped Malan to add another crucial 52 runs together on the scoreboard after Sam Billings. Although Buttler lost his wicket after scoring 29 runs, Dawid Malan kept adding runs. He scored the highest 134 runs for England. Relying on his bat, England ended their innings with 287 runs.

Chasing the target, Australia had a flying start. Two openers, David Warner and Travis Head, played fantastically on the opening wicket. They were aggressive from the start.

Both batters got half-centuries in this match. Moreover, David Warner and Travis Head made a brilliant partnership of 147 runs. After that, English pacer Chris Jordan broke their partnership in the 20th over by taking Travis Head’s wicket.

Travis scored 69 runs before leaving the pitch. Meanwhile, David Warner made another crucial partnership with Steven Smith. They added 53 runs together on the scoreboard. However, Warner departed the crease after scoring 86 runs.

On the other hand, Steven Smith remained not out today. He scored an unbeaten 80 runs with one six and nine fours. Depending on these scores, Australia chased the target within 47 overs and have gone 1-0 up in the series.
