Australia have come to Pakistan to play a three-match test series. They have already played the first test, which has been drawn. Today, they started the second test at the Karachi Internation Cricket Stadium. The Aussie skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and decided to bat first. However, the visitors have made a change in their squad. They replaced Josh Hazlewood with Mitchell Swepson. On the other side, Pakistan have changed two players. They replaced Iftekhar Ahmed with Hasan Ali and Naseem Shah Faheem Ashraf.

1st Innings of Australia

Winning the toss, David Warner and Usman Khwaja started the batting for the visitors. They were looking comfortable on the pitch. Australia picked up 50 runs without losing a wicket. Relying on these two batsmen’s bats, the Aussies seemed to score a big run. Unfortunately, their partnership could last for long. David Warner, the former captain of Australia, lost his wicket after scoring 36 runs. Before losing the wicket, Warner hit three boundaries and two sixes. Pakistani pacer Faheem Ashraf, who has been included in the 2nd test, picked up the wicket of Warner.

On the other side, Usman Khwaja remained on the pitch so calmly. He got a half-century in this match. After the departure of David Warner, he tried to build a partnership with the new player, Marnus Labuschagne. But the new batsman could not survive on the pitch. He became run-out in the 21st over. As a result, the visitors lost two wickets in 82 and 91 runs.

But the opener Usman Khwaja didn’t give away his wicket. After scoring the half-century, he got a century as well. In addition, Khwaja made a brilliant partnership of 159 runs with Steve Smith. Like Khwaja, Steve Smith also picked up a half-century. After scoring the 50 runs, Smith tried to become a bit aggressive. Unfortunately, he had to go back to the pavilion after adding 72 runs on the scoreboard. Smith hit seven boundaries in his innings.

After that, Usman Khwaja continued batting with the new player, Nathan Lyon. However, Nathan Lyon is a spinner. He usually doesn’t bat on the fifth wicket. But, it was a wise decision of the captain as he doesn’t want to lose a genuine batsman at the end of the day. So after Day 1, Usman Khwaja remains not out in 127 runs. He will start bating with Nathan Lyon from tomorrow. As of now, Australia have scored 251 runs for three wickets.
