2nd T20 Match Report

Sri Lanka have come to Australia to play the five-match T20 series against the Aussies. Last night, they faced the home team in the 2nd game of this series. In this match, the Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss and decided to bowl first. Compared to the first match, both teams made some changes in the squad in the second game.

However, losing the toss, the Aussies had to start the innings. The Aussie skipper Aaron Finch started the match with Ben McDermott. Their partnership was looking good as they both batted very comfortably. Finch and McDermott played aggressively from the start of the match. They added 33 runs on the scoreboard in four overs. After that, Ben McDermott lost his wicket to Nuwan Thushara. Then, the skipper made another brilliant partnership with the new batsman, Josh Inglis. Unfortunately, Aaron Finch had to go back to the pavilion after scoring 25 off 20 balls. Wanindu Hasaranga took that wicket in the 8th over.

Before losing the wicket to Hasaranga, Josh Inglis added 48 runs on the scoreboard. It was the highest individual score for the Aussies in this match. He hit five boundaries in his innings. Despite that, the remaining players of Australia failed to score a significant run. So, they gave a target of 165 runs to the visitors.

Chasing the target, Sri Lanka lost their first wicket in the first over. Danushka Gunathilaka returned to the dressing room without scoring a single run. But the other opener, Pathum Nissanka, batted very carefully. He tried to stay on the pitch for a long time. Unfortunately, the other batsman couldn’t give enough support to him. Nissanka scored 73 runs from 53 balls. With those runs, Sri Lanka tied the match in 20 overs. So the match went to the super over.
