Bangladesh takes the lead

Bangladesh have gone to New Zealand to play a two-match test series. It is the first match for both teams in the new year. However, the first test match has started on January 1. After playing three days, Bangladesh have taken the lead against the Black Caps. Two more days are remaining of this match.

1st Innings of New Zealand

Bangladesh skipper Mominul Haque won the toss at the Bay Oval and decided to bowl first. So the host team had to bat first in their home ground. But New Zealand could not start their innings comfortably. They lost the wicket of their captain, Tom Latham, in the 4th over.

But the other opener, Will Young, made a brilliant partnership with the new batsman Devon Conway. They added 138 runs together on the scoreboard. Will Young, however, lost his wicket after scoring 52 runs. On the other hand, Conway continued showing his batting class in this match. He got a century in this game against Bangladesh. Before losing the wicket to the Bangladeshi skipper, he scored 122 runs for the Black Caps. Conway hit 16 boundaries and one six.

In the middle order, Ross Taylor and Henry Nicholls supported the team to keep the pace of scoring runs. But Taylor could stay longer on the pitch. He had to go back to the pavilion after scoring 31 runs. On the other hand, Henry Nicholls added 75 runs before losing the wicket.

After the departure of Nicholls, the remaining batsmen of the Black Caps couldn’t add a significant run on the scoreboard. They became all-out after scoring 328 runs. Bangladeshi pacer Shoriful Islam got three wickets of the hosts. Spinner Mehedi Hasan also picked up three wickets.

1st Innings of Bangladesh

The visitors are doing great as of now. They have already taken the lead of 73 runs in the first innings. Bangladesh added 43 runs in the opening partnership. They lost the first wicket in the 19th over as Shadman Islam had gone back to the pavilion after scoring 22 runs.

On the other side, young lad Mahmudul Hasan Joy got his first half-century in this match. He added 78 runs on the scoreboard. Then skipper Mominul Haque made a partnership with Nazmul Hasan Shanto and then Liton Das. Before losing the wicket, Shanto added 64 runs for his team.

It looked like both, Mominul and Liton could get a century. But both have gone to the dressing room before scoring 90 runs. The captain added 88 runs, while Liton Das scored 86 runs. However, the visitors will start batting tomorrow.
