Bangladesh VS Sri Lanka: 2nd Test

Sri Lanka have come to Bangladesh to play a two-match test series. They have already played the first test, which has been drawn. On May 23, both teams started playing the second test. Mominul Haque, the test captain of Bangladesh, won the toss at Sher-E Bangla Cricket Ground and decided to bat first. They have already completed the first innings as well.

1st Innings of Bangladesh

Winning the toss, Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudul Hasan Joy started the batting innings for Bangladesh. Their starting was very poor as Bangladesh lost the first wicket in the very first over. Mahmudul Hasan Joy departed the pitch without scoring runs. In the next over, Tamim Iqbal also the wicket, scoring zero runs.

Sri Lankan bowler Kasun Rajitha and Asitha Fernando were on fire in the first innings against the Bangladeshi batters. They picked up five wickets together in 24 runs. Despite the rubble, Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das showed the team the light. They brilliantly tackled the initial disaster.

From 24 runs, Mushfiq and Liton Das made an impressive partnership of 272 runs. Both batsmen were very careful on the pitch. But after settling down on the crease, they gradually accelerated the pace of adding runs. Both players scored centuries in that innings. Unfortunately, their partnership broke when Liton Das departed the pitch in Kasun Rajitha’s over. Before losing the wicket, Liton scored his career highest 141 runs for the team.

After that, the remaining batters couldn’t stay longer with Mushfiqur Rahim. Although Mushfiq tried hard, the other batsmen lost their wickets quickly. As a result, Bangladesh ended their first innings in 365 runs. Mushfiqur Rahim remained unbeaten in 175 runs, which was the highest individual score for the Bangladeshi team.

1st Innings of Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka started their batting innings today. To chase Bangladesh, both openers of Sri Lanka have had a brilliant start. Oshada Fernando and Dimuth Karanarathne got half-century in this innings. They added 95 runs in the opening partnership.

After that, Osheda Fernando lost the wicket after adding 57 runs. Bangladesh got another wicket as Kushal Mendis left the pitch after 11 runs. However, Dimuth Karunaratne remained not out in 70 runs. He will start batting with Kasun Rajitha from tomorrow. Sri Lanka finished the second day with 143 runs for 2 wickets.
