Barcelona and Atletico both lost crucial matches

Last night, several big teams played in the UEFA Champions League. FC Barcelona faced Inter Milan, while Atletico Madrid played against Club Brugge. However, both Spanish teams, Barca and Atletico, failed to get three points in their crucial matches. As a result, both teams are on the verge of being eliminated from the group stage.

Barcelona VS Inter Milan

FC Barcelona have traveled to Italy to play against the 2021 Serie A champion, Inter Milan. This match was very important for both teams to secure a place in the Round of 16. Therefore, both managers from the two sides deployed their best possible XI last night.

Barca boss Xavi Hernandes set up the team formation with 4-3-3. He used Ousmane Dembele and Raphinha with Robert Lewandowski in the front. On the other side, Inter boss Simione Inzaghi played his team in a 3-5-2 formation. The home team’s manager used two wing-backs with three center-backs.

However, Barcelona dominated the first twenty minutes despite being the visiting team. They kept more possession in the first half than the home team, Inter Milan. But the home team eventually started dominating. In the 28th minute, Inter Milan got a goal as Joel Correa found the net. But, the match referee ruled out this goal due to offside.

Lautaro Martinez and J. Correa kept pushing the opponents. They looked very threatening whenever they got the ball. However, Inter Milan finally scored a goal as Hakan Calhanoglu found the net in the additional minutes of the first half. Scoring that goal, Inter Milan focused on their defense. Barcelona couldn’t break Inter Milan’s defense in the remaining minutes of the 2nd half. Therefore, Inter Milan secured three points in a very crucial match.

Club Brugge beat Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid, another Spanish giant, lost the game against Club Brugge. Last night, Club Brugge scored twice to beat the Spanish side. The first goal came in the 36th minute as Kamal Sowah netted the ball with Jutgla’s assist. They doubled their lead in the second half with the goal from Ferran Jutgla in the 62nd minute.

However, Atletico Madrid couldn’t return one in this match. Therefore, they lost the game at Jan Breydel Stadium. In addition, this defeat moved the Spanish side to the bottom of the table. Meanwhile, Club Brugge are now on the top with nine points.
