The FIFA World Cup starts on Sunday with the match between Ecuador and the host, Qatar. Like the other teams, Argentina have also arrived in Qatar. Argentine boss Lionel Scaloni announced his 26-men squad earlier for the World Cup.

But a massive injury blow for Argentina came to the spotlight last night. Two players, Joaquin Correa and Nicholas Gonzalez have been ruled out of the World Cup due to injuries.

The news came into the spotlight after the medical reports for both players. According to the report, Nicholas Gonzalez is out because of a left femoral biceps muscle injury, and Joaquin Correa is as he has an injury on his left foot.

Argentina Football Association, AFA, has released an official statement, saying, “The AFA wishes the two players a speedy recovery at this time and accompanies with a hug their unconditional contribution during this period of four years.”

Who are the replacements?

Having left out two players, who are to replace them? Manager Lionel Scaloni immediately called Thiago Almada and Angel Correa to replace Joaquin Correa and Nicholas Gonzalez.

Lionel Scaloni did not include Thiago Almada and Angel Correa in his first squad. So, both players didn’t expect this call. Their reaction was sky-high whenever they got the call.

Angel Correa was in Rossario when he got the call from the manager. “It took me by surprise. I was enjoying myself with my family. Now I’m going with a huge illusion,” said Correa. Angel Correa added, “Playing in a World Cup is the best. We go with a huge illusion all the boys. Hopefully, it will be given to us.”

Thiago Almada is also the happiest person right now after being included in the World Cup squad. Diego Almada, the father of Thiago Almada, said, “Thiago called me crying and shouting to warn me of his call. He caught me traveling to Qatar, Thiago gave me tickets for Father’s Day. We can’t believe it, it’s the icing on the cake. Now we’re all going to have to travel.”
