Boxing Day Climax: Man City beat Leicester City by 6-3

The current league champion Manchester City won a thrilling match against Leicester City. Both teams scored nine goals in this match. The Guardiola boys netted six goals, while the visitors returned three. As of now, the Citizens are standing at the top of the table with 47 points. They are also six points ahead of Liverpool. On the other side, the Foxes slipped down to the 10th after the thrilling match against Man City.

Match Review

Manchester City welcomed Rogers boys at the City of Manchester Stadium on Boxing Day. As a home game, Pep Guardiola took no risks. He played his best XI against the Foxes. The City manager used the formation of 4-3-3. Guardiola played Bernardo Silva as a center forward, while Riyad Mahrez and Sterling played as the wingers. On the other hand, Brandon Rogers played his team in a 4-4-1-1 formation against the home team.

Manchester City took the lead at the very beginning of the match. Their midfield maestro Kavin de Bruyne scored that goal in the 5th minute. After a while, the Citizen got a penalty kick as Tielemans fouled Laporte inside the box. However, Riyad Mahrez took the penalty kick and made no mistakes. As a result, the Guardiola boys took two goal-lead in 14 minutes of the match.

Conceding two early goals, the visitors desperately tried to find the equalizers. They could have returned a goal in the 18th minute if Ederson hadn’t blocked Madison’s bullet shot. Moreover, they conceded the third goal as Ilkay Gundogan beat Peter Schmeichel in the 21st minute. Four minutes later, Manchester City scored their fourth goal. This time Raheem Sterling scored from the penalty kick. So the Guardiola boys ended the first half in a 4-0 lead.

It looked like the match was over for the Fox. But coming back from the break, they fought very well. They returned two goals within ten minutes. The first goal came in the 55th minute as James Maddison netted the ball for the visitors. Four minutes later, Leicester City hit again. This time Ademola Lookman scored for the Foxes.

The match became more exciting when Leicester City scored the third goal in the 65th minute. It seemed like the visitors could score another one at any time. But the City defender, Aymeric Laporte, secured the match, scoring a goal from a brilliant header. Moreover, Raheem Sterling scored the sixth and the final goal for the Citizens in the 87th minute. So, Manchester City won the match by 6-3.
