BPL: Dhaka Dominators beat Fortune Barishal

Dhaka Dominators keep the semifinal hope alive. They defeated Fortune Barishal by five wickets to move into fifth place in the point table. Today, Dhaka Dominators chased the target within 20 overs and sealed a comfortable victory at Sylhet International Stadium.

Toss: Shakib Al Hasan, the captain of Fortune Barishal, won the toss and decided to bat first.

Fortune Barishal had a decent start, but the middle order failed to continue

Winning the toss, Fortune Barishal had a decent start at Sylhet Stadium. Anamul Haque and Saif Hasan came onto the pitch to start the innings for Fortune Barishal. The two openers kept the run rate above six. Although they didn’t lose any wickets in the powerplay, they lost their first wicket in the 7th over. Saif Hasan departed the crease in the 7th over after scoring 15 runs.

After that, Shakib Al Hasan came into the pitch but failed to contribute. He lost his wicket with five runs only. Moreover, Ibrahim Zadran and Iftikhar Ahmed also failed to get runs for Barishal.

However, Mahmudullah Riyad played a vital role in the middle order. He took responsibility to handle the disaster. With two sixes and four fours, Mahmudullah scored the highest 39 runs for Fortune Barishal. Relying on his bat, Fortune Barishal ended their innings with 156 runs.

Dhaka Dominators had a flying start

Chasing the target, Dhaka Dominators had a flying start today. Soumya Sarkar and Mohammad Mithun started hitting boundaries from the very first over. Together they picked up 74 runs in the opening partnership.

They were heading towards the target, but Karim Janat broke their partnership in the 8th over. He picked up Souma Sarkar, who scored 37 off 22 before leaving the pitch.

After that, Mohammad Mithun continued scoring runs with Abdullah Al Mamun. Mithun scored the highest 54 runs before being LBW in the 12th over, while Abdullah Al Mamun added 26 runs before losing the wicket.

However, Nasir Hossain remained not out today. He scored an unbeaten 20 runs for Dhaka Dominators to chase the target in 19 overs. In the end, Dhaka Dominators won the match by five wickets.
