Sylhet Strikers are back in the winning ways after losing a game. Sylhet have been brilliant this season, securing the first five victories from the five games. However, they lost the 6th match, but they are now back on the winning track. Today they defeated Fortune Barishal by two runs only. The victory sees Sylhet Strikers at the top of the table.

Toss: Shakib Al Hasan, the captain of Fortune Barishal, won the toss and decided to bowl first.

After starting poorly, Sylhet Strikers recovered well

Losing the toss, Sylhet Strikers started their batting innings with Najmul Hossain Shanto and Zakir Hossain. Unfortunately, the Strikers failed to get a good start.

In the 2nd over, Barishal’s bowler Mohammad Wasim destroyed Sylhet’s top order. He picked up three wickets in that over. As a result, Sylhet Strikers became three wickets down in 15 runs.

However, Najmul Hossain Shanto remained calm between the wickets. He tackled the initial disaster with Tom Moores. Together they carried the team from 15 runs to 96 runs. After that, Tom Morees lost his wicket in the 14th over, scoring 40 runs.

Although Najmul Shanto was slow before the half-century, he became very aggressive after picking up the half-century. Najmul Hossain Shanto scored the highest 89 runs for the team before leaving the crease. In addition, Thisara Perera added 21 runs in the lower order. Relying on their runs, Sylhet Strikers ended their innings with 173 runs.

Fortune Barishal had a good start but failed to continue

Chasing the target, Fortune Barishal had a strong start today. Saif Hasan and Ibrahim Zadran started the innings brilliantly. They kept the run rate up to 10 in the first four overs.

However, Tanjim Hasan gave a breakthrough for Sylhet as he picked up Saif Hasan in the 5th over. Saif Hasan scored 31 off 19 balls before his departure. Anamul Haque, the following batter, also failed to contribute much.

After that, Ibrahim Zadran and Shakib Al Hasan built another partnership. But they both lost their wickets in the 14th over. Then, the Fortune Barishal couldn’t fight back. Due to Sylhet Striker’s attacking bowling, Fortune Barishal ended their innings with 171 runs. Therefore, Sylhet Strikers won the match by two runs.
