The summer transfer window is going on. Almost half of the transfer window has over. Chelsea are also very active in the transfer market, just like the other top European clubs. They have finally reached an agreement with the English Premier League Champion, Manchester City, for Raheem Sterling. Raheem Sterling is very close to joining Chelsea with a transfer fee of around £47.5million. The player will sign a five-year contract with Chelsea FC. That means the English player will play for Chelsea until 2027.

In 2015, Raheem Sterling joined Manchester City, where he won most of the trophies of his entire career. That time, Man Cit had to pay £49 million to Liverpool for Sterling. However, Sterling had played 339 games since he joined Man City. He scored 131 goals in those appearances for Man City. Moreover, Raheem Sterling has been scoring 20+ for the past five seasons, only Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero scored more goals than him. In addition, Sterling won four Premier League titles, one FA Cup, and three League Cups during his period at Manchester City.

But Raheem Sterling has been underrated at Man City. He wasn’t a regular starter for Pep Guardiola’s side last season. Moreover, Manchester City signed Erling Haaland, one of the most talented young strikers in the current world. As a result, Sterling feared not getting enough game time next season. That is why Raheem Sterling leaves Manchester City.

His Role at Chelsea

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has been very desperate to sign Raheem Sterling. Tuchel believes Sterling can do much better at Chelsea. Moreover, Chelsea’s main man, Romelu Lukaku, joined Inter Milan on loan. As a result, the club needed a striker. So, Tuchel has trusted Sterling for the next season.

Raheem Sterling is a player who can cope in any position. He played both as a winger and as a striker. But Sterling scored more goals as a winger. However, Tuchel can use Sterling anywhere. Further, Sterling has a lot of experience playing in the EPL. All these things attracted Tuchel to go for Raheem Sterling.
