After losing their first three matches, who would have thought Comilla Victorians would turn around like this? But the Victorians have done it well. They have won seven consecutive games after losing the first three in BPL. Today, they defeated Chattogram Challengers by six wickets at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium, where Mohammad Rizwan won the Player of the Match award for his brilliant batting performance.

As it happened

Shuvagata Hom, the captain of Chattagram Challengers, won the toss and decided to bat first. Mehedi Maruf and Usman Khan stepped into the crease to star Chattagram’s innings. But they lost their first wicket in the 2nd ball of the innings. Mehedi Maruf had gone duck after being LBW by Tanvir Islam. The following batter also failed to contribute much.

However, Usman Khan tackled the disaster with the Bangladeshi young talent, Afif Hossain. Both batters made a partnership of 88 runs to handle the situation. They were heading the team toward a big target. But Usman Khan lost his wicket to Saikat Ali after scoring 54 runs.

After that, Afif Hossain carried the team scoring 66 runs before leaving the pitch. He hit two sixes and six fours in his innings. In addition, Darwish Rasooli’s aggressive 21 off 9 balls helped the team to score 156 in 20 overs.

Chasing the target, Saikat Ali and Mohammad Rizwan started Comilla’s innings carefully. But Saikat Ali failed to score more than 15 runs. Skipper Imrul Kayes and Johnson Charles departed the crease without making a major impact.

However, opener Mohammad Rizwan remained strict between the wickets. He led the team with Mosaddek Hossain to chase the target. Together they carried the team until the 17th over. Mohammad Rizwan made a fantastic partnership of 76 runs with Mosaddek Hossain, which built a basement for Comilla Victorians.

Rizwan scored the highest 61 runs from 47 balls before losing the wicket to Mritthunjoy Chowdhury. But Mosaddek Hossain remained not out in 37 runs. Ryling on his bat, Comilla Victorian chased the target within 20 overs, losing four wickets. As a result, Comilla Victorian secured their 7th successive win in the BPL.
