Jamaica Tallawahs have suffered two consecutive defeats in the Caribbean Premier League. Today, Guyana Amazon Warriors defeated Jamaica Tallahaws by 12 runs at the Providence Stadium, where Odean Smith scored a brilliant 40 off 16 balls to secure the victory for the Warriors. However, the defeat has moved Jamaica to the 3rd position.

As it happened

Rovman Powell, the captain of Jamaica Tallawahs, won the toss and decided to bowl first at the Providence Stadium. So, Guyana Amazon Warriors started their batting innings with Chandrapaul Hemraj and Rahmanullah Gurbaz. The Warriors failed to get off to a good start today, as they did in previous matches.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz, the Afghan international, lost his wicket to Chris Green in the 2nd over. This bowler picked up the 2nd wicket in the 4th over. This time, Chandrapaul Hemraj departed the pitch after scoring 13 runs.

However, Shai Hope tried to build a partnership to tackle the disaster. But the following four batters couldn’t stay long on the crease. It seemed the Guyana Amazon Warriors could become all out before 100 runs. But, Shai Hope continued scoring runs. He was very aggressive on the crease. With four fours and three sixes, Shai Hope scored the highest 60 runs for the Warriors.

After that, Odean Smith came into the pitch and started showing his batting power. He started hitting boundaries from the very first ball. Odean Smith hit six sixes against Jamaica Tallawahs. Before losing the wicket in the last over, Odean Smith scored a devastating 40 runs only from 16 balls. Therefore, Guyana Amazon Warriors set a target of 178 runs for Jamaica Tallawahs.

Chasing the target, the two openers of Jamaica started a bit slowly. But they also failed to make a good partnership on the opening wicket. In the 4th over, Kennar Lewis lost his wicket to Imran Tahir. After that, the other batters of Jamaica Tallahs came and lost their wickets continuously. Bradon King was the only batsman who remained very strict on the crease. He fought for his life to win the match.

Brandon King got a stunning century in this match. He scored 104 runs from 66 balls only. Moreover, Brandon King hit seven sixes and eight fours before being run-out. Anyway, Jamaica Tallawahs became all out in 166 runs due to the aggression of the Warriors’ bowlers. As a result, Guyana Amazon Warriors won the match by 12 runs.
