The last Saturday night in the English Premier League was full of surprises. Liverpool and Manchester City dropped points in their respective matches, while Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur sealed the victory.
Liverpool failed to score in the Merseyside Derby
Liverpool once again dropped points in the English Premier League. Last night, they faced Everton FC at Goodison Park. This match was the first Merseyside Derby of the season. But both times failed to score a single goal in this game. As a result, the match ended in a 0-0 tie.
The draw sees Liverpool at 6th place on the point table. But they will go behind Man United if Man United avoid defeat against Arsenal today. On the other hand, Everton FC are yet to win a match in the league. They have drawn five of all six games they have played.
Aston Villa stopped Man City
Manchester City, one of the top favorite title contenders of this season, dropped points last night against Aston Villa. They faced Aston Villa at Villa Park. The Citizens dominated the whole time. But they failed to break Villa’s defense in the first half.
Returning from the break, Man City created more pressure on the opponents. So, they didn’t have to wait much to find the net in the 2nd half. City striker Erling Haaland scored a stunning goal in the 50th minute with Kevin de Bruyne. This is the 10th goal of Haaland in six matches only.
However, Aston Villa defended so well. They didn’t let City players score more goals. Moreover, Aston Villa leveled the scoreline as Leon Bailey scored a goal in the 74th minute with a bullet shot. After that, City tried hard but failed to score more. As a result, the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Chelsea survived against West Ham
Chelsea FC have got a crucial victory despite conceding first. West Ham United opened the scoresheet in the 2nd half as Antonio found the net in the 62nd minute. But, Chelsea took only 14 minutes to find the equalizer. Defender Ben Chilwell scored that goal in the 76th minute. Moreover, Chelsea took the lead just two minutes before the ending whistle. Kai Havertz saved Chelsea by scoring a late goal in the 88th minute. This goal earned three points for Chelsea.
