The defeat makes Arsenal uncertain about going to the next UEFA Champions League as they are standing 5th at the point table. Tottenham Hotspur are one step ahead of them with 54 points. Although Arsenal also have equal points, the GD (Goal Difference) put them one step behind the Spurs. But, a tight fixture is waiting for the Gunners, which would be a big challenge for them. They will have to face Manchester United, Chelsea FC, and Tottenham Hotspur in the upcoming games.

So, the defeat against Crystal Palace could cost a lot for Arsenal if they wouldn’t go to the top four to qualify for the next UEFA Champions League. However, Crystal Palace climbed up to the 9th after the victory. Moreover, they are unbeaten in their last five league games.

Match Report

Last night, Crystal Palace welcomed Arsenal at Selhurst Park Stadium. Palace’s manager Patrik Vierra, who played for Arsenal, imposed a 4-2-3-1 formation. In the front, he played Jean Mateta. On the other hand, Arsenal’s manager Mikel Arteta also followed the same formation against the home team.

However, the home team surprised the visitors with an early goal. In the 16th minute, Crystal Palace took the lead as Jean Mateta found the net with the help of J. Anderson. That goal boosted the performance of the home team immensely. They looked very threatening whenever they got the ball. Finally, the time came for the Eagles as they doubled the lead within eight minutes of the first goal. In the 24th minute, Anderson assisted Jordan Ayew for his second assist.

Conceding two goals before half-time, Arsenal had gone crazy to find the net. They tried desperately to score but couldn’t break the defense of the Palace. So, the first half ended in 2-0. Returning from the break, the visitors couldn’t bring any changes to the scoreline. Moreover, they conceded another one from the penalty kick. Arsenal’s midfielder Odegard fouled Zaha inside the box. As a result, the match referee gave a penalty kick to the home team. Zaha took that kick and made no mistake. So after 90 minutes, Crystal Palace secured the victory with a 3-0 margin against Arsenal.
