England are the champion of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. They beat Pakistan in the final of this tournament to lift the T20 World Cup trophy for the second time. Throughout the game, Sam Curran and Ben Stokes were on fire, resulting in England’s victory.

Toss: Josh Buttler won the toss and decided to bowl first.

Pakistan had a slow start

Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam started their innings a bit slowly. They were careful on the crease. But despite being defensive, the two openers couldn’t make a long partnership. In the 5th over, Pakistan lost their first batter as Sam Curran bowled out Mohammad Rizwan. After that, Mohammad Haris also failed to contribute much. He departed the crease, scoring only eight runs.

Middle-order failed to make a quick response

Losing two wickets, Pakistan were under pressure. But Babar Azama and Shan Masood added 39 runs on the scoreboard to tackle the initial disaster. However, their partnership broke in the 12th over as Adil Rashid picked up Babar Azam. The skipper scored 32 runs before losing the wicket.

Shan Masood also lost his wicket after a while. He added the highest 38 runs for Pakistan. Unfortunately, the other batters failed to contribute much to the team. Sam Curran picked up three wickets of Pakistan, while Adil Rashid and Chris Jordan got two to destroy Pakistan’s batting lineup. Therefore, Pakistan ended their innings with 137 runs.

Pakistani bowers made a great start.

Defending a small target, Pakistan had a flying start. Shaheen Afridi picked up Alex Hales in the very first over. After that, Josh Buttler tried to make a resistance with Phil Salt. Together they added 25 runs to the scoreboard.

However, Haris Rauf picked up two wickets to change the momentum for Pakistan. Phil Salt and Josh Buttler lost their wicket to Haris Rauf between four to six overs. Therefore, England became three men down in six overs.

Ben Stokes played a heroic innings

Losing three wickets early, England were under pressure. But Ben Stokes played heroic innings to rescue England. He remained strict between the wickets. With Harry Brook, Ben Stokes made a partnership of 39 runs for the Three Lions.

After Brook, Ben Stokes made another partnership with Moeen Ali. Together they added 48 runs on the scoreboard. Although Moeen Ali lost his wicket after scoring 19, Ben Stokes remained not out in 52 runs. Relying on his bat, England won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.
