Netherland have hosted a three-match ODI series against the world champion, England. But the home team couldn’t seal the series at their home ground as England secured the series by winning the first two matches. In the first match, England made a world record by picking 498 runs in an ODI match. Yesterday, they played the second match of the series, where the visiting team won by six wickets.

Match Report

Like the first match, Netherlands skipper Scott Edwards won the toss in the second game. But this time, he chose to bat first. So, Vikramjit Singh and Max O’Dowd came off the pitch to start the innings for the Dutches. From the start, both batters played defensively. They tried not to lose any wickets early. Unfortunately, they couldn’t stay longer. David Willey, the pacer of England, picked up the wicket of Vikramjit Singh.

However, the top order of the home team couldn’t contribute much. Losing the first wicket, the following two batsmen couldn’t pick 20 runs individually. But, the runs started coming from the sixth wicket. Their middle-order helped to make a decent score. Captain Scott Edwards scored the highest 78 runs for the Netherlands. Meanwhile, Bas de Leede and Logan Van Beek added 34 and 38 runs for the team. Relying on these runs, Netherland scored 235 for 7 wickets.

England had a brilliant start to chasing the target. Their two openers were on fire against the Dutch bowlers. Jason Roy and Phil Salt were very aggressive from the beginning of the match. They made a massive partnership on the opening wicket. Together they added 139 runs on the scoreboard. After that, Jason Roy departed the pitch as he lost the wicket to Aryan Dutt. But he scored 73 runs before his departure.

Aryan Dutt, who picked up the first wicket, bowled out Phil Salt. But before losing the wicket, Salt added 77 runs from 54 balls. However, David Malan and Moeen Ali played the rest to chase the runs. Malan scored 36, while Moeen Ali remained not out in 42 runs. As a result, England won the second match by 6 wickets and sealed the series as well.
