After getting out of the UEFA Champions League, FC Barcelona have only a chance to get a trophy from the UEFA Europa League. But German club Eintracht Frankfurt didn’t let it happen. They knocked out Barcelona by winning the quarterfinal with an aggregate of 4-3. Last night, Frankfurt met Barcelona at Camp Nou to play the second leg of the quarterfinal. It was a must-win match for both teams as the first leg ended in a 1-1 draw. But in the end, Eintracht Frankfurt successfully qualified for the semifinals, winning the second leg against Barcelona by 3-2.

Last night, Barcelona welcomed Eintracht Frankfurt at Camp Nou. But It seemed Frankfurt were playing on their home ground as a massive number of their fans came to Camp Nou. The entire stadium was full of white supporters. However, Barca boss Xavi set up his team formation with 4-3-3 in this crucial match. He had to make several changes in the squad as some of the players were absent due to injury. On the other hand, the Frankfurt boss played his team in a 3-4-2-1 formation.

However, the home team tried to dominate from the beginning of the match. But they couldn’t create enough chances to score. Besides, the visiting team looked threatening whenever they got the ball. They executed every chance they got in the match. As a result, Frankfurt stunned the home team with an early goal from a spot-kick. During the second minute of the game, defender Erik Garcia fouled inside the box, costing Barca a penalty kick. Filip Kostic, the midfielder of Frankfurt, took that kick and made no mistake.

Scoring this goal, the visitors became more aggressive. They doubled their lead within halftime. In the 36th minute, Borre Maury scored their second goal for Frankfurt. Conceding two goals in the first half, Barcelona became messed up. They tried to find the net but couldn’t make enough chances. Returning from the break, the visitors tripled their lead as Filip Kostic scored his second goal in the 67th minute. However, FC Barcelona have also scored two goals in the injury time. But those goals were not enough to qualify for the semifinals. As a result, FC Barcelona, one of the most successful clubs in football, got eliminated from the UEFA Europa League.
