FIFA World Cup Qualifiers: European Zone

Teams from the European region played their qualifier matches last night. Germany, Netherland, Croatia, and Russia got three points in the seventh round of the qualifying match. Germany have won against Romania, while Netherland beat Latvia and Croatia beat Cyprus last night.

Germany VS Romania

The four-times FIFA World Cup winner Germany have welcomed Romania at Volksparkstadion. The German coach Hansi Flick made some changes in this match. Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer missed the game due to injury. That is why Barcelona goalkeeper Ter Stegan played last night. Moreover, Hansi Flick did not start the goal machine, Thomas Muller.

As a result, Romania kept pushing the German players from the beginning of the match. They scored the first goal in the 9th minute of the match. Romanian midfielder Ianis Hagi scored from Stanciu’s assist. In the first half, Germany created some chances but failed to score. Leore Sane missed some big chances in the first half.

The German winger Serge Gnabry equalized in the 52nd minute. Marco Reus helped him to score. After the goal, Hansi Flick made some changes to the team. He replaced Timo Werner and Marco Reus with Kai Havertz and Thomas Muller. By this change, Germany looked more aggressive in the game. Moreover, Thomas Muller helped Germany to take the lead in the 81st minute. Both teams could not score in the remaining minutes. As a result, Germany have got three points and remain top of Group J.

Croatia VS Cyprus

Croatia beat Cyprus by 3-0 on the home ground of Cyprus. With this win, Croatia are in first place jointly with Russia. They are also unbeaten in the last five games of the FIFA World Cup Qualifier.

Croatia scored three goals, but it was not an easy game for them. They had to wait until 47 minutes to score the first goal. Ivan Parisic scored for Croatia in the additional time in the first half, while the second goal came in the 80th minute. Defender Josko Gvardiol scored from the corner.

The third goal came from Marko Livaja’s shot. He scored at the very last moment from J. Brekalo’s pass. However, Cyprus played well in the first half. But after the first goal, they looked nervous. However, Croatia are in first place in Group H after winning this match.
