Match Review

Sanju Samson, the captain of Rajasthan Royals, won the toss at the Mumbai Stadium and decided to bowl first. So, Gujarat Titans started their batting innings with Mathew Wade and Shubman Gill. However, their starting wasn’t decent enough to mention. Gujarat Titans lost two wickets in the first two overs. Mathew Wade departed in the second over, scoring only 12 runs, while Shubman Gill lost his wicket in the next over. Vijay Shankar, the next batsman, also failed to play a big innings for the Titans.

Losing three wickets in 53 runs, Gujarat Titans were in great trouble. Then the captain came on the pitch and tackled the situation. He made a brilliant partnership with Abhinav Manohar. They added 86 runs together on the scoreboard. Unfortunately, their partnership broke when Abhinav Manohar lost the wicket after scoring 43 runs. In addition, Hardik Pandya remained not out in 87 runs. Relying on those runs, Gujarat Titans set a target of 193 runs for the Rajasthan Royals.

Chasing down the target, Josh Butler started hitting from the beginning of the match. But his Devdutt Padikkal couldn’t help him to build a partnership. He departed without scoring any run for the team. Moreover, Rajasthan Royals lost two more wickets in the 5th over. Lockie Ferguson picked up the wicket of Ravichandra Ashwin in this over. Sanju Samson also departed the pitch after being run out. On the other hand, Josh Buttler fought very hard to win the match. He was the only batsman to score a half-century for Rajasthan Royals. Before losing the wicket, Josh Butler added 54 runs from 24 balls only. He hit eight boundaries and three over boundaries. But after his departure, the remaining batsmen couldn’t help enough to win the game. As a result, Gujarat Titans won the match by 37 runs and are now at the top of the table.
