The England Women Cricket Team has sealed their first victory in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022. Today, they beat India Women Cricket Team by four wickets. With this victory, the home team has climbed up to sixth place on the table. However, Heather Knight, the skipper of England, won the toss and decided to bowl first at the Bay Oval. So, India had to start batting against the hosts.
Batting of India
Smriti Mandhana and Yastika Bhatiya started the innings for Team India. They were looking good on the pitch. But their partnership didn’t last long. In the 4th over, Yastika Bhatiya lost her wicket to Anya Shrubsole. Moreover, this English bowler hit again in her next over. This time she took the wicket of the Indian skipper, Mithali Raj. The skipper scored only one run for the team.
On the other hand, Smriti Mandhana tried to stay on the pitch as long as possible. She made a partnership of 33 runs with the new batter, Harmanpreet Kaur. Unfortunately, Harmanpreet had to go back to the pavilion after scoring 14 runs. Moreover, India lost two more wickets within 70 runs, including Smriti Mandhana. Before losing the wicket, she scored the highest 35 runs for the team.
However, Richa Ghosh and Jhulan Goswami boosted up the pace of picking runs in the lower order. Richa scored 33 runs, while Jhulan added 20 runs. But the aggression of the British bowler, India were losing wickets so quickly. As a result, they became all-out in 134 runs.
Batting of England
In pursuit of a less target, the English batter made it very difficult for themselves. Both openers failed to help the team. They both had gone to the pavilion, scoring just one run. As a result, England lost two wickets in 4 runs. The skipper tackled the situation with Net Sciver. They added 65 runs together on the scoreboard. Unfortunately, Net Sciver missed the half-century just for five runs. She lost the wicket after adding 45 runs, but Heather Knight didn’t miss it. She got a match-winning half-century in this match. Relying on her bat, England won the game in 32 overs.
