British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe has officially entered bidding to buy the English giant Manchester United. INEOS, one of Ratcliffe’s companies, has announced that they have formally entered the bidding to take over the club.

Man United are up for sale

The Glazer family announced last November that they were willing to sell the club. After reigning the club for the last 17 years, The American owners expressed their desire to listen to offers. The Glazer family, however, faced heavy criticism for the club’s poor performance.

In the last season, fans heavily protested against the Glazers family. However, they are now open to selling the club, and British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe is one of the strong candidates to buy the club.

Jim Ratcliffe has been a fan of Manchester United since his boyhood. Therefore, he has entered the bid to buy Manchester United. His company INEOS has owned several clubs. In 2019, Ratcliffe bought the Ligue 1 side club Nice for €100m.

When Roman Abramovich was forced to sell Chelsea FC, Jim Ratcliffe attempted to buy the club. He made a very late bid of £4.25bn, but Tod Boehly won the race and became the owner of Chelsea.

Now his focus is on buying Man United. “We have formally put ourselves into the process,” a spokesperson of Jim Ratcille said in public. However, he is not the only one to have an interest in buying Man United. Tech Giant Apple is another in this race.

In addition, Saudia Arabia sports minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal has previously confirmed his country’s intentions of taking over United.

Previously he said, “The Premier League is the best league in the world. Everyone’s watching the Premier League. It’s the most watched league and there are diehard fans of these teams in the kingdom. So it would be a benefit for everyone.”

Anyway, Jim Ratcliffe is the first person to show interest in buying Manchester United. There is now only a matter of time before we find out who is the new owner of Manchester United.
