Kolkata Knight Riders beat Royal Challengers Bangalore

Kolkata Knight Riders still have hopes of reaching the final of the IPL. They beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 4 wickets at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium last night. Now they will face Delhi Capitals in Qualifier 2 on the 13th of October to reach the final. On the other side, Royal Challengers Bangalore once again failed to win their maiden trophy in IPL.

The RCB captain Virat Kohli has announced his resignation from the captaincy of Royal Challengers Bangalore. However, he has admitted his desire to play for RCB till the last match of the IPL. Kohli has had a conference with Star Sports after the game. He said to them,

I’ve tried my best to create a culture here where youngsters could come in and play expressive cricket, play with belief. It’s something I’ve tried to do at the Indian team level as well. All I can say is that I’ve given my best. I don’t know how the response has been to that, but I can vouch for the fact that I’ve given my 120% to this franchise every year, leading the team.

Under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, Royal Challengers Bangalore played 140 games in the IPL, where they won 64 matches and lost 69.

RCB captain Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat first at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Captain Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal started the innings carefully. They took 49 runs on the scoreboard together. However, Lockie Ferguson brought the first breakthrough to Kolkata Knight Riders. He picked up the wicket of Padikkal in the sixth over.

Virat Kohli, on the other side, tried to play long innings. But no other batsmen could cross twenty runs except Kohli. He scored 39 runs before losing his wicket. So after 20 overs, Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 138 runs. Shubman Gill and V Iyer started the innings for KKR. They gave a smooth start to KKR.

Shubman Gill scored 29 runs from 18 balls before losing the wicket. The other batsmen of Kolkata Knight Riders have contributed equally to chase the target of 139 runs. In the last over, Kolkata Knight Riders needed seven runs. Shakib Al Hasan hit a boundary in the first ball of the final over. So that, they needed three runs from five balls. E. Morgan and Shakib Al Hasan picked up the runs within four balls. As a result, Kolkata won the match by 4 wickets. They will play against Delhi Capitals to go to the final.
