Italian giant AC Milan have been destroyed by Lazio at Stadio Olimpico. Last night, Lazio hosted AC Milan at Stadio Olimpico, where the home team smashed the visitors by a four-goal margin. The thrilling win has reduced the point differentials between Lazio and Milan. Lazio are now just one point behind AC Milan.

As it happened

Lazio, the home team, welcomed AC Milan at Stadio Olimpico. Lazio boss Mauricio Sarri played his team in a 4-3-3 formation. On the other hand, Milan boss Stefano Pioli set up the team formation with 4-2-3-1, where Oliver Giroud played as the striker.

The home team was very aggressive against Milan. They took the lead at the very beginning of the match. Lazio scored in just four minutes at Stadio Olimpico. Milankovic Savic scored that goal for Lazio with the help of Zaccagni.

Lazio dominated the first half with very speedy and attacking football. They created many chances and doubled their lead before the break. In the 38th minute, Lazio got their second goal as Mattia Zaccagni found the net.

However, AC Milan also created several chances after the break. Rafael Leao made some solo runs. But Lazio defended very well. Milan’s strikers failed to break the defense line of Lazio.

Moreover, Lazio focused on counter-attacking football. Milan’s defense struggled to face the speedy attack from Lazio. In the 67th minute, Milan’s defender Kalulu fouled Pedro inside the box. Therefore, the match referee offered a penalty kick to Lazio.

Luiz Alberto stepped forward to take the kick, and he made no mistake. As a result, the home team got their third goal. Conceding three goals, AC Milan became shaky in defense. They failed to make an organized attack in the remaining minutes.

Lazio took that advantage and looked for another goal. And guess what? They took only eight minutes to find the 4th goal. This time, Filipe Anderson netted the ball for Lazio and sealed the massive victory at Stadio Olimpico. This victory moves Lazio into 3rd place at the table, one point behind AC Milan.
