Manchester City beat Paris Saint-Germain

Manchester City have defeated Paris Saint-Germain by 2-1 in the group stage match of the UEFA Champions League. They took the revenge of losing in the first match at Parc des Princes with this win. As a result, Manchester City remain at the top of the table, while PSG are in second place at the table.

Match Review

Manchester City welcomed Paris Saint-Germain at the City of Manchester Stadium last night. As the home team, Manchester City have got a tremendous crowd in the stadium. However, the home team manager, Pep Guardiola, set the formation of 4-3-3. Pep played Rodri Hernandez as Kevin de Bruyne was injured. Moreover, he used Bernardo Silva as a center forward in the match against PSG.

On the other side, PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino also used the formation of 4-3-3. He played in the front Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe, the most valuable trio in the current football world.

However, Manchester City were keeping more possession from the starting of the game. They could take the lead in the fifth minute if Kimpembe didn’t clear the ball from the goal line. Manchester City also could take the lead in the 32nd minute, but the bullet shot from Bernardo Silva hit the post. As a result, the first half ended in 0-0.

In the second half, Paris Saint-Germain tried to score. They were dominating from the starting of the second half. As a result, PSG scored the first goal in the 50th minute. Rodri failed to block Lionel Messi’s pass. So, Kylian Mbappe found the ball and scored the goal.

Conceding the goal at home, Manchester City became so desperate to equalize. They were pushing and pressing highly to score. In the 63rd minute, Manchester City equalized as Raheem Sterling scored a crucial goal. Within 13 minutes, Manchester City doubled their lead. This time Gabriel Jesus, who assisted on the first goal, scored the second.

Paris Saint-Germain could not score in the remaining minutes. As a result, Manchester City have won the match against the French side and stand at the top of the table.

Both Manchester City and Paris saint-Germain secured their place in the knock-out stage of this tournament. But Borussia Dortmund have failed to qualify for the next round. On the other hand, FC Barcelona, AC Milan, and Atletico Madrid are on the verge of being out from this tournament.
