Manchester United have restarted their football with a brilliant victory against Burnley FC in the Carabao Cup. Due to the FIFA World Cup, many players haven’t yet returned to the club. So the managers from both sides couldn’t deploy their best possible XI. As for Manchester United, Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane missed the clash as they haven’t returned to the club. Harry Maguire also missed the match due to illness. So, the manager deployed Casemiro as the center-back with Lindelof.

He set up the formation with 4-2-3-1, where Anthony Martial played as the center-forward. Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, and Alejandro Garnacho played just behind the striker. On the other side, Burnley’s manager Vincent Kompany also played his team in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

The home team tried to take the lead early in the match. Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen were continuously pressing the opponents from the midfield. However, Manchester United could have scored a goal in the 15th minute if Alejandro Garnacho didn’t miss the crucial chance. But Burnley couldn’t survive long. In the 27th minute, Manchester United took the lead as Christian Eriksen found the net from Bissaka’s brilliant cross.

After conceding the goal, the visiting team became desperate to find the equalizer. But Man United’s defense was rock solid and didn’t let the strikers break the line. As a result, Manchester United went to the break with a one-goal lead.

Returning from the break, Man United kept pressing for more goals. Marcus Rashdord, who has been brilliant throughout the season, scored a fantastic solo goal in the 57th minute. He picked the ball from the midfield and made a solo run. After dribbling several players, Rashford found the net in the 57th minute. However, Burnley couldn’t score more in the remaining minutes. As a result, Manchester United won the match and secured a place in the quarterfinal.

Man United’s boss Erik Ten Hag is very pleased with his team’s performance. He said, “[We played] against a good team. I think they were good on the ball. It’s a difficult to get the press on [them] but I think we did.”

Ten Had added, “We had a lot of high regains, and we had a lot of transitional moments. I think we need to take a little bit [from] that. There is definitely room for improvement, we have to work on that, but of course I am pleased with a win.”
