The Red Devils have made an impressive return to the English Premier League. Last night, they welcomed Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford, the final home game of the year. However, The Red Devils triumphed easily at Old Trafford. They defeated Nottingham Forest by a 3-0 margin, which moved the Red Devils closer to the 4th place.

As it happened

For Manchester United, Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof were absent last night. So, the manager deployed Luke Shaw as a center back with Raphael Varane. Erik Ten Hag set up the team formation with 4-2-3-1, where Anthony Martial played as the center-forward, and Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, and Antony played just behind him. Besides, the Forest boss played his team in a 4-3-3 formation.

The home team tried to play a ruthless game. They started playing aggressively from the beginning of the match. As a result, Manchester United didn’t have to wait much to find the net. In the 19th minute, Christian Eriksen quickly took a corner kick, and Marcus Rashford converted it into a stunning goal for Man United. It has become Rashford’s fifth goal in the EPL this season.

Two minutes later, the home team made another counter-attack. Midfielder Bruno Fernandes gave the ball to Marcus Rashford with a long pass. Rashford made a brilliant first touch to control the ball, and later he supplied the ball to Martial’s plate. And guess what? Anthony Martial hit the net with a powerful shot to make the lead double.

However, Lodi returned a goal in the 43rd minute for The Forest, but it was disallowed after the VAR check. Therefore, the first half ended in a 2-0 margin.

Man United’s boss made several changes in the 2nd half. They were more focused on defending. Although The Forest created some chances, they failed to find the net. Man United’s goalkeeper David De Gea also made some crucial saves to keep a clean sheet. Moreover, the home team got another goal as Fred scored just three minutes before the final whistle. So the home team won the match with a comfortable 3-0 margin in the final home game of the season.
