Portugal are ready to start their mission in the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar today as they will face Ghana in Group H. The world already has seen two upsets in the Qatar World Cup. Therefore, Portugal must be careful ahead of the Ghana clash at Doha Stadium.

But, Cristiano Ronaldo attracted all the spotlight before the first match of Portugal. His interview with Piers Morgan about Manchester United was very controversial. As a result, Manchester United released him from the squad and published an announcement about that. Now Cristiano Ronaldo is no longer a Manchester United player.

However, Ronaldo is not concerned about this. His all focus is now on World Cup. At the World Cup press conference, Ronaldo said, “Stop asking my teammates about me. Ask them about the world cup. I don’t care what other people think. I’m bulletproof, I wear an iron suit.”

Anyway, the team is backing him and preparing for today’s clash against Ghana.

Records

Portugal played only one match against Ghana. It was at the group stage of the 2014 World Cup, where Portugal beat Ghana by a 2-1 margin. Ronaldo scored a winning goal in this match. However, a lot has changed since then. Ghana won two of their last five matches and lost two. Portugal also lost two of their last five games.

However, Portugal’s record at FIFA World Cup is not strong enough. In their last 14 world cup games, they won only three. Moreover, they failed to win a single match in the knockout stage since 2006. So, the Portugueses are determined to change history in this Qatar World Cup.

Team News

Portugal boss Fernando Santos announced a strong squad for this world cup. Moreover, they have no major injury issues in their team. Only Nuno Mendes is in doubt due to an injury. But the manager will see until the last moment.
