Mumbai Indians are one of the most successful teams in the history of the Indian Premier League. But they have been playing very poorly this season. Their poor form continues as they are yet to win a match. Mumbai Indians are the only team to lose all of their games in this tournament. Last night, they faced Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium, where they lost their 8th match of the tournament. Lucknow sealed the game by 36 runs and moved to 4th place with 10 points.

Match Report

Lucknow Super Giants needed all three points against Mumbai Indians to qualify for the semifinals. In this match, Rohit Sharma, the captain of Mumbai Indians, won the toss and decided to bowl first. So, Quinton de Kock started the innings with the skipper, KL Rahul. They played carefully from the beginning of the game. They looked good on the pitch, but suddenly, Quinton de Kock lost the wicket in the 4th over. He scored just 10 runs before losing the wicket.

After that, KL Rahul tried to build a partnership with the new batsman, Manish Pandey. They added the highest 58 runs together on the scoreboard. However, Manish Pandey departed the pitch after scoring 22 runs. But the skipper remained strict on the crease. Many players came and went, but Rahul fought hard. He got the century in the match and remained not out in 103 runs. Relying on his bat, Lucknow Super Giants scored 168 runs in 20 overs.

Chasing the target, Mumbai Indians started the innings brilliantly. Ishan Kishan was too defensive on the pitch, while Rohit Sharma continued picking runs. They added 49 runs in the opening partnership. Unfortunately, they started losing wickets after Ishan Kishan’s departure. Between 49 to 67 runs, Mumbai Indians lost 4 wickets. Captain Rohit Sharma also had to go back to the pavilion after scoring the highest 39 runs for Mumbai. He hit five boundaries and one over-boundary before the departure.

However, Tilak Varma tried to tackle the situation in the middle order. He scored 38 runs for the team. But he also couldn’t stay longer on the pitch. In the 18th over, Jason Holder picked up his wicket. After that, the remaining batsmen couldn’t score enough to win the match. As a result, Lucknow Super Giants won the match by 37 runs.
