The Super 12 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup started today with the match between New Zealand and Australia. However, New Zealand have started their T20 world cup journey with a massive victory against Australia, the host of the World Cup. The Black Caps defeated the host by 89 runs at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Aaron Finch, the captain of Australia, won the toss and decided to bowl first. Therefore, New Zealand started their batting innings with Finn Allen and Devon Conway. The two openers of the Kiwis were very aggressive from the beginning. They started hitting from the very first ball.
They added 56 runs in just four overs. After that, Aussie pacer Josh Hazlewood gave a breakthrough to Australia by taking a crucial wicket in the 5th over. He picked up Finn Allen in the 5th over. However, Finn Allen scored 42 off 16 with three sixes and five fours.
On the other side, Devon Conway kept adding runs on the scoreboard. He made another brilliant partnership with the skipper, Kane Williamson. Together they added 75 runs on the scoreboard. But, the skipper was a bit slow on the pitch. Before leaving the crease, Williamson scored 23 runs only.
However, Devon Conway didn’t miss the half-century. Furthermore, he was very close to getting the first century of the tournament. Devon Conway remained not out in 92 runs. In addition, James Neesham scored a very quick 26 off 13 balls to set a massive target for Australia. Relying on their bat, New Zealand ended their innings with 200 runs.
Australia were never on the right track to chase the massive target. They lost their first wicket in the 2nd over as David Warner departed the pitch with five runs. After that, skipper Finch tried to handle the situation with Mitchell Marsh. But they couldn’t score more than 25 runs together. The captain scored 13 runs only.
Due to the aggression of Mitchell Santner and Tim Southee, Australia kept losing their wickets. Both Santner and Southee picked up three wickets each, while Trent Boult got two wickets. As a result, Australia became all out in 111 runs, and New Zealand won the match by 89 runs.
