Obed McCoy destroyed India in the 2nd match

West Indies have made a brilliant comeback in the five-match T20 series as they defeated India in the 2nd match by 5 wickets. Caribbean bowler Obed McCoy took six wickets alone for the West Indies to destroy the visitors. Thus, he became the Player of the Match. As of now, the series stands at 1-1.

Match Report

Last night, Caribbean skipper Nicholas Pooran won the toss and decided to bowl first at the Warner Park Stadium. So, India started their batting innings with Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav. But the visiting team didn’t have a good start. Captain Rohit Sharma lost his wicket to Obed McCoy in the very first ball of the innings. This pacer took another batsman in his next over. This time, Suryakumar Yadav left the pitch after scoring only ten runs.

The following two batters also failed to get enough runs. Shreyash Iyer departed the pitch with 10 runs, while Rishab Pant added 24 off 12 balls before losing the wicket. However, Hardik Pandya tried to make a good impact in the middle order. He made a partnership of 43 runs with Ravindra Jadeja.

Unfortunately, their partnership broke in the 14th over as Hardik Pandya lost his wicket to Jason Holder. But before his departure, Pandya scored the highest 31 runs for India. After that, Obed McCoy did the remaining job. Indian batsmen couldn’t stay long on the pitch due to his aggressive bowling. As a result, India became all out in 138 runs.

Chasing the target, West Indies had a flying start. Kyle Mayers and Brandon King took 46 runs in the opening partnership. Although Kyle Mayers was a bit slow on the pitch, Brandon King continued scoring runs. Brandon King made another partnership of 25 runs with the skipper, Nicholas Pooran. Unfortunately, the skipper lost his wicket in the 10th over.

After a while, Shimron Hetmyer also followed the same path as the skipper. But Brandon King never stopped scoring. He got a very crucial fifty against India. With eight boundaries and two over-boundaries, Brandon King scored 68 runs before his departure. Relying on his bat, West Indies chased the target successfully in 20 overs, losing five wickets. Therefore, West Indies won the match by 5 wickets.
