The winning run of Pakistan continues as they beat Afghanistan in their third match in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. They are at the top of the table in Group 2 with six points. Moreover, Pakistan almost confirmed their place in the semi-final of this tournament. Last night,  Pakistan beat Afghanistan by 5 wickets at the Dubai International Stadium.

Match Report

In the Dubai International Stadium, Afghanistan captain Mohammad Nabi won the toss and decided to bat first. It was a wise decision of the Afghan Captain. He knows Afghanistan’s bowling is stronger than batting. If they can make a fair score, they can defend it with their strong bowling. So the decision is right for sure.

But Afghanistan lost their first wicket in the second over. Opener Hazratullah Zazai lost the wicket to Imad Wasim, scoring zero. All the batsmen of Afghanistan tried to hit big shots from the starting of their batting. But it is not easy to hit against Pakistani world-class bowlers. As a result, the first five batsmen of Afghanistan lost their wicket in a very short time. However, captain Mohammad Nabi played important innings. He scored 35 runs from 32 balls, hitting five boundaries. Najibullah Zardan contributed 22 runs for the team. At the last moment, Gulbadin Naib added some speed in picking runs. He picked up 35 runs from 25 balls, hitting four boundaries and an over-boundary.

Pakistan, on the other hand, also lost an early wicket. Mohammad Rizwan had to go back to the pavilion in the third over. The other opener, Babar Azam, made a brilliant partnership with Fakhar Zaman. They added 63 runs together on the scoreboard. Fakhar Zaman lost his wicket after scoring 30 runs. But, captain Babar Azam continued his batting and got a half-century.

However,  Pakistan was under a lot of pressure after losing two wickets quickly. They needed 24 runs in the final two overs. It seemed like Pakistan were losing the match as two new batsmen were on the pitch. But Asif Ali hit four sixes in the 19th over and picked up all 24 runs in that over. As a result, Pakistan won their third consecutive game in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
