Manchester United are very close to signing Ralf Rangnick as the interim manager until the end of the season. According to The Atletic, Manchester United have reached an agreement with the German coach, Ralf Rangnick.

After the terrible defeat against Watford, Manchester United released Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with mutual agreement. Since then, Michael Carrick has been named interim coach of Manchester United. He managed only one game as of now. Under Carrick, Manchester United beat Villarreal in the UEFA Champions League and qualified for the next round. However, the match against Chelsea on Saturday could be the last match of Michael Carrick as the manager.

Who is Ralf Rangnick?

Ralf Rangnick is one of the most searched names on google for the last few hours as many of us didn’t hear his name before. But he is one of the honorable men in German football. Ralf Rangnick is also considered the “Godfather” of modern coaching in Germany.

Moreover, Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel are also influenced by his philosophy of football. Thomas Tuchel, the manager of Chelsea, started coaching under Rangnick. While speaking about Tuchel, Rangnick said,

Thomas became a coach through me. He was my player at Ulm and had to finish his career because of knee problems. I gave him a job as our under-15 coach. He didn’t even intend on being a coach, he was working in a bar in Stuttgart.

Rangnick is the inventor of “Gegenpress,” which means counter-press in football. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp followed his theory and got tremendous success with Liverpool.

Contract Details

Manchester United offered Ralf Rangnick to become an interim coach of this club until the end of the season. However, one year back, Chelsea offered him to be an interim manager after sacking Franck Lampard. But Rangnick refused the proposal, saying that he is not an interim manager. So what has persuaded him to be the temporary manager of Manchester United?

The answer is, Manchester United didn’t offer him only to become the interim manager, but also the role of consultancy. Ralf Rangnick will become the consultant of this club for two years if Manchester United appoint a new permanent manager in the summer window. That offer convinced the German manager to say yes to Manchester United.
