The Spanish side qualified for the semis because of a 2-1 aggregate.

Chelsea VS Real Madrid

Despite scoring three goals first, Chelsea FC couldn’t qualify for the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League. Chelsea needed a victory with a minimum of two goals margin as they lost the first leg by 3-1. So, the manager played his best possible XI against Real Madrid in the second leg of the quarterfinal. Chelsea’s boss Thomas Tuchel set the team formation with 3-4-1-2. He used two wing-backs, Marcus Alonso and Loftus-Cheek. On the other side, Carlo Ancelotti played Real Madrid with his classy 4-3-3 formation. Due to Militao’s suspension, the manager replaced him with Nacho in this match.

Anyway, the visitors hit again at the beginning of the second half. Antonio Rudiger netted the ball with a brilliant header to double the lead in the 51st minute. As a result, the aggregate became level for both teams. But Chelsea had another goal in the 75th minute, which made a great chance to go to the semifinals. Unfortunately, Rodrygo found the net for Real Madrid within five minutes, which leveled the aggregate again. As a result, the match went to the extra-time, where Karim Benzema scored an impressive goal with a header to secure the semifinals. Chelsea tried so hard, but couldn’t score more.
