India took the lead in the five-match T20 series against the West indies. Despite Rohit’s injury during the match, India made a brilliant victory in the 3rd game to take the lead in the series. They defeated the Caribbean by 7 wickets with six balls in their hands. Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav won the Player of the Match award for his destroying batting show.

Match Report

Winning the toss, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma decided to bowl first. So, West Indies started their batting innings with Kyle Mayers and Brandon King. Unfortunately, Brandon King couldn’t make enough runs as he did in the 2nd match. He lost his wicket in the 8th over, scoring 20 runs only. But he made a partnership of 57 runs with Kyle Mayers.

Anyway, Kyle Mayers continued scoring runs. He made another partnership with the skipper, Nicholas Pooran, after King’s departure. Together they added 50 runs on the scoreboard. It seemed West Indies could make a big score. But their batters were a bit slow except Kyle Mayers. Before losing the wicket, Mayers scored the highest 73 off 50 balls. Relying on his bat, West Indies scored 164 runs in 20 overs, losing five wickets.

Chasing the target, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav looked very confident on the pitch. But Rohit had to leave the pitch as he became injured. After that, Suryakumar made a tremendous partnership with Shreyas Iyer. They added 96 runs together on the scoreboard. Opener Suryakumar Yadav scored the highest 76 runs from 44 balls only before his departure. Furthermore, Rishab Pant added 33 runs in the middle order to chase the target. He also remained not out in this match. As a result, India won the 3rd T20 and have taken a 2-1 lead in the series.

Captain’s Thoughts

Rohit Sharma, the skipper of India, has shared his opinion while talking to the media. He said, “How we bowled in the middle overs was crucial. I thought we used the conditions well. Used the variations well. Was very clinical how we chased. When you watched from the outside, didn’t feel a lot of risk was taken, was a lot of calmness in the middle. Surya batted brilliantly, good partnership there with Iyer. The pitch had something in it for the bowlers, not an easy target. Was important to pick the right shots, right balls on a ground like that.”
