Sassuolo humiliates AC Milan at San Siro

AC Milan have been humiliated today by Sassuolo. AC Milan have a chance to go to the 2nd place in the league table. But Sassuolo, who have been struggling to avoid the relegation zone, stunned the Rossoneries. They humiliated AC Milan by scoring five goals at San Siro.

The defeat has moved AC Milan to the 4th place. They are now 12 points behind the table topper, Napoli FC. Meanwhile, Sassuolo have climbed up to the 16th at the table.

In the Serie A league table, AC Milan were the nearest team to Napoli FC. But they have missed the opportunity today at their home ground. AC Milan boss Stefano Piolo played his best possible XI against Sassuolo. He set up the team formation with 4-2-3-1, where Oliver Giroud played as the center-forward. Sassuolo boss Dionisi also used the same formation against the Rossoneries.

AC Milan tried to play aggressive football from the beginning. Striker Oliver Giroud took the team one step forward as he scored a goal in just nine minutes. Unfortunately, the goal was ruled out after checking the VAR.

However, Sassuolo eventually started dominating at San Siro. Sassuolo striker Gregoire Defrel helped the team to take the lead as he scored in the 19th minute. The visitors stunned the Milan fans with another goal. Sassuolo doubled their lead within two minutes as Davide Frattessi found the net for the visitors.

But Oliver Giroud kept the game alive for AC Milan. His powerful header in the 24th minute found the net as a lifeline for the Rossoneries. Unfortunately, the home team couldn’t make a quick response. Despite scoring the equalizer, they conceded the third goal. Sassuolo midfielder Domenico Berardi scored that goal to make the scoreline 3-1.

The thrilling first half ended in 3-1 as both parties failed to score more in the remaining minutes. But the drama continued in the 2nd half as well. Sassuolo got their fourth goal in the match just at the start of the second half. Midfielder Lauriente netted the ball for Sassuolo from the penalty kick. However, Rabic returned a goal for AC Milan in the 56th minute but was ruled out again due to offside.

In addition, Sassuolo scored their fifth goal when Henrique beat AC Milan’s goalkeeper in the 79th minute. However, Origi scored for the Rossoneries, reducing the goal difference only slightly. In the end, AC Milan was bruthaly humiliated at their home ground by Sassuolo.
