Today’s T20 World Cup match between Scotland and West Indies produced another upset. Newbie Scotland defeated the two times T20 world cup winner, West Indies, at the Blundstone Stadium. They beat the Caribbeans by 42 runs to register their first victory in the World Cup. Now, the Scots need one win from the remaining two games to secure a place in the Super 12. On the other hand, one more defeat would see West Indies out of the tournament.

Scotland had a flying start
Losing the toss, the Scots started their batting innings with George Munsey and Michael Jones. Both openers brought a flying start for Scotland. George Munsey made a fantastic partnership with Michael Jones, which earned 55 runs for the Scots in six overs.
However, their brilliant partnership broke in the 7th over as Jason Holder bowled out Michael Jones. Jones scored 20 off 17 balls before leaving the pitch. Jason Holder picked another wicket in his next over.
George Munsey led the team toward big scores
Coming into the pitch as an opener, George Munsey led Scotland toward a big score. He continued adding runs on the scoreboard. He made another vital partnership of 31 runs with Calum MacLeod. However, Calum MacLeod lost his wicket after scoring 23 off 14 balls. But George Munsey remained not out in this match. He scored the highest 66 runs with nine boundaries. As a result, Scotland scored 160 runs in 20 overs.
An aggressive start failed to go far
Chasing the target, the two openers of West Indies tried to play aggressively. Kyle Mayers hit three boundaries and a six. But, he couldn’t stay long on the crease. In the 3rd over, Kyle Mayers lost his wicket to Josh Davey. Before losing the wicket, he scored 20 runs for the Caribbean.
The Caribbean’s middle order failed to respond
The middle order of the West Indies failed to respond well. Nicholas Pooran, Sharmarh Brooks, and Rovman Powell couldn’t cross ten runs. As a result, West Indies lost eight wickets in 13 overs.
However, Jason Holder tried hard to chase the target. But his batting was a bit slow. From 33 balls, Holder scored only 38 runs. However, his slow innings also ended as Safyaan Sharif picked him up in the 19th over. As a result, West Indies were all out in 118 runs, resulting in Scotland’s victory.
