South Africa leveled the three-match ODI series beating Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka have hosted a three-match ODI and three-match T20 series against South Africa. Each team is preparing for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Sri Lanka and South Africa are also getting ready for the World Cup through this series. After losing the first match, South Africa have turned around in the second match. They have equalized the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.

Match Details

South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first. The two openers, Janneman Malan and Aiden Markram started the innings gently. They lost their first wicket after scoring 40 runs on the scoreboard. Sri Lankan bowler Karunaratne took the wicket of Aiden Markram. But another opener, Malan, kept playing the innings. New batsman Reeza Hendricks accompanies him to play comfortably. After scoring the half-century, Hendricks had to go to the pavilion.

Opener Janneman Malan got his third ODI hundred. He scored 121 runs hitting nine boundaries and one over-boundary what was the highest individual run for South Africa. Suddenly the rain got started, and South Africa batted until 47 over. They scored 283 runs in 47 over losing six wickets. In the DLS method, South Africa gave Sri Lanka a target of 265 runs.

Sri Lanka didn’t start their innings smoothly. They lost the first wicket at the fifth over. Kagiso Rabada took the first wicket of Avishka Fernando. Even though both openers could not cross ten runs. Avishka Fernando scored 8 runs and M. Bhanuka got seven. Only C. Asalanka got fifty for the Lankans. He scores 77 runs, which was the highest individual run for Sri Lanka. Captain Shanaka and Karunaratne fought to the end. But that was not enough to win the game. They have been all-out in 36.4 over after scoring 197 runs. The Proteas bowler Tabriz Shamsi took a five-wicket haul. Pacer Kagiso Rabada got two wickets. Mulder, Maharaj, and Linde took one wicket for each.

The final ODI will start on Tuesday, 7 September.
