South Africa made a record-breaking chase in the 1st T20 of the series against India. They chased the target of 212 runs to defeat the home team by seven wickets. As a result, the defeat ended the unbeaten run of India. India were unbeaten in their previous 12 games in the T20 format. Finally, South Africa stopped them by winning this match.

Match Report

South Africa have come to India to play a five-match T20 series. The series began yesterday at Delhi Cricket Stadium with the first match. However, the Protea’s captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and decided to bowl first in this match. So, Ishan Kishan and Rituraj Gaikwad came off the pitch to start the innings for India.

Both batsmen were very aggressive from the start of the match. They picked up fifty runs in the powerplay. Ishan Kishan was a bit more aggressive than Rituraj Gaikwad. He hit almost every ball he faced. Anyway, their partnership came to an end as Gaikwad lost his wicket in the 7th over. Protea pacer Wayne Parnell took that wicket.

After that, Ishan Kishan continued scoring runs. He made another partnership of 80 runs with the new player, Shreyas Iyer. Iyer hit three sixes and one four in this match. After a while, he also departed the pitch, scoring 36 off 27 balls. On the other hand, Ishan Kishan’s brilliant innings ended in the 13th over. Before losing the wicket, he scored the highest 76-runs from 48 balls. Depending on these runs, India picked up a massive 211 runs in 20 overs.

Chasing the huge target, South Africa couldn’t start their innings in a decent way. They lost the first wicket in the 3rd over as Bavuma departed the pitch after scoring only 10 runs. The match was under India’s control as they picked up three wickets in eight overs. But the drama was yet to come.

Van der Dussen and David Miller played brilliant innings in the middle order. Both were too aggressive on the pitch. Moreover, they remained not out in this match. Van der Dussen scored 75 off 46, while David Miller picked up 64 runs only from 31 balls. Due to their aggression, South Africa successfully chased the target in 19 overs.
