Southampton FC thrashed Brentford at home ground

After a nine-day break, the English Premier League is back with the match between Southampton and Brentford. Last night, the Saints welcomed Brentford FC at St. Mary’s Stadium, where they beat the visitors by 4-1. This victory moves them to the 11th on the point table. On the other side, The Bees slipped down to the 13th after this game.

Match Report

The home team manager Ralph Hasenhuttl set up his team formation in 3-5-2 against Brentford FC. He used to the two full-backs as the wing-backs. The manager played Armando Broja and Nathan Redmond as the two strikers. However, the Brentford manager also followed the same formation in this game.

As the home team, Southampton FC got incredible support from the stadium. They tried to push the opposition from the beginning of the game. As a result, the home team scored an early goal against The Bees. In the 5th minute, defender Jan Bednarek scored a brilliant goal from the corner kick of J. Ward-Prowse.

However, the visitors found the equalizer in the first half. Brentford midfielder Vitaly Janet found the net for the team in the 23rd minute. But conceding the goal, the home team became more aggressive. They took the lead again in the 37th minute. It was an own-goal for Brentford. So, Southampton FC ended the first half on lead.

Coming from the break, the visitors couldn’t score more. Moreover, they conceded two more goals in the second half. Southampton scored their third goal in the 4th minute of the second half. Striker Armando Broja scored that goal in the 45th minute with the help of O. Romeu. However, the host scored again as Che Adams found the net for the home team in the 70th minute.

Both teams couldn’t score more goals in the remaining minutes. As a result, Southampton FC won the match against Brentford FC by a 4-1 margin. However, The Saints have scored four goals at home for the first time since 2017.

Southampton will play their next league game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday. On the other side, The Bees will travel to Anfield to play against Liverpool FC. After that match, they will face Manchester United at home stadium.
