Strasbourg Surprised PSG at Stade de la Meinau.

RC Strasbourg surprised the Ligue 1 champion, Paris Saint-Germain, at their home ground, Stade de la Meinau. PSG have already ensured their league title with five matches in hand. But last night, they couldn’t earn three points from the 5th team on the table, RC Strasbourg. The game ended in a 3-3 tie.

Last night, Strasbourg hosted the league champion, PSG, at their home ground. Although PSG won the league, Strasbourg needed to win the match to qualify for the UEFA Europa League. So, they took the match as a very important exam.

Mauricio Pochettino, the manager of PSG, played his best possible XI in this game. He set up the team formation with 3-4-3. In the front, the manager used Kylian Mbappe and Neymar along with Lionel Messi. On the other side, Strasbourg’s manager Julien Stephan played his team in a 5-3-2 formation.

The home team surprised the visitors by scoring an early goal. Strasbourg took the lead in just three minutes of the game as Kevin Gameiro found the net with the help of L. Perrin. Conceding the goal, the visiting team accelerated their pace of aggression. They didn’t take much time to equalize. In the 23rd minute, PSG striker Kylian Mbappe scored an impressive goal from the counter-attack. Neymar Jr. helped him to find the net.

However, both teams couldn’t score more in the first half. In the second half, both teams scored several goals. PSG took the lead for the first time in this match in the 64th minute as Achraf Hakimi found the net with the help of Mbappe. After a few minutes, Mbappe scored the third goal for PSG. He took advantage of the mistake made by the Strasbourg defender. Djiku tried to back pass the ball towards the goalkeeper, but Mbapped stole the ball and scored.

It looked like PSG would win the match, but the drama was yet to come. The home team got their second goal in the 75th minute. It was an own-goal as Marco Verratti diverted the ball into his own net. Moreover, Strasbourg hit at the very last moment. They found the net in the injury time. Anthony Caci scored the third goal for the home team in the 90+2 minutes. As a result, the match ended in a 3-3 tie.
