India go 1-0 up in the three-match T20 series against New Zealand. The first match of the series was abandoned due to rain. So, the series started today with the 2nd game at the Bay Oval, where Suryakumar Yadav played destroying innings to beat the host.

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson won the toss and decided to bowl first at the Bay Oval Stadium. Therefore, India started their batting innings with Ishan Kishan and Rishab Pant. Both openers were a bit defensive from the start of the match.
They picked up 36 runs in the opening partnership. Then Rishab Pant lost his wicket to Lockie Ferguson in the 6th over. However, Suryakumar Yadav then came into the crease and started building a partnership with Ishan Kishan. Together they scored 33 runs for India.
Although Ishan Kishan departed with 36 runs, Suryakumar Yadav kept hitting boundaries. Suryakumar was very aggressive on the pitch. He tried to hit every ball he faced. He hit seven massive sixes and eleven fours in his innings.
Moreover, Suryakumar remained not out in this match. The player scored 111 runs only from 51 balls. Relying on his bat, India ended their innings with 191 runs. On the other hand, Tim Southee picked up three wickets for the Kiwis.
India had a flying start defending the target. Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up Finn Allen in the very first over. However, Kane Williamson then came into the pitch and built a partnership of 56 runs with Devon Conway to tackle the disaster.
Their partnership was looking good, but Washington Sundar broke the flow by taking Devon Coway’s wicket in the 9th over. Conway scored 25 runs before losing the wicket.
However, Kane Williamson was very strict between the wickets. He fought for his life to make a good result. But the other batters failed to contribute much to the team. Kane Williamson scored the highest 61 runs for the Kiwis before leaving the pitch. Indian spinner Deepak Hooda picked up four wickets alone to tie up New Zealand by 126 runs. Therefore, India won the match by 65 runs.
