Sylhet Strikers have been brilliant in the Bangladesh Premier League, BPL. They have won their first five matches in a row. But today, they tasted their first defeat as Comilla Victorians beat them by five wickets.

Imrul Kayes, the captain of Comilla Victorians, won the toss and decided to bowl first. So, Sylhet Strikers had to bat first. Due to an injury, Sylhet missed their in-form player, Towhid Hridoy.

Therefore, Mohammad Haris and Najmul Hossain Shanto came into the crease to start the innings for Sylhet Strikers. Both openers, unfortunately, failed to make a good start. Sylhet Strikers lost their first wicket in the 2nd over as Hasan Ali picked up his native, Mohammad Haris.

Najmul Hossain Shanto and Akbar Ali also failed to make a good impact today. After scoring 13 runs, Shanto lost his wicket, and Akbar scored just one run before leaving.

The bowlers of the Comilla Victorians were on fire against the league leader. It was particularly difficult to deal with Hasan Ali and Mukidul Islam. But the 9th over was very crucial for Comilla Victorians. They just destroyed Sylhet Strikers in this over. Comilla Victorians picked up three wickets in this over, including Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mushfiqur Rohim, and Sharifullah.

Due to their aggressiveness, Sylhet Strikers became seven wickets down in 53 runs. It seemed Sylhet Strikers could become all out before hundred runs.

But Imad Wasim and Thisara Perera played a fantastic role in the lower order. They changed the momentum entirely. Moreover, They carried the team from the 10th over. From 53 runs, both players made a brilliant partnership of 80 runs for the team. Imad Wasim remained not out in 40 runs, while Thisara Perera also added an unbeaten 43 runs. Relying on their bats, Sylhet Strikers ended their innings with 133 runs.

Chasing the target, Comilla had a flying start. Liton Kumar Das was brilliant today. With seven fours and four sixes, Liton Kumar Das scored 70 off 42 balls before leaving the pitch.

As a result, Imrul Kayes and Johnson Charles couldn’t work hard since Liton made it easy for them. They just continued and chased the target successfully within 19 overs. Therefore, Comilla Victorians won the match by five wickets.
